We work hard to get things right, but mistakes happen. When they do, we correct them promptly and transparently.
How to report an error
Write to [Owner to confirm: corrections email address] or use the Contact page. Please include the link to the story, what you believe is wrong and any documents that support the correction. You do not have to give your name, but it helps if we need to ask you a question.
How we correct
An editor reviews every correction request and checks the facts.
If a factual error is confirmed, we fix the story and add a dated Correction note at the end explaining what changed.
For significant errors the correction note is also shown near the top of the story.
When we add new information rather than fix a mistake, we add an Update note and show the updated time.
Corrections are applied to every language version of the story.
What we do not do
We do not silently change facts in published stories. Fixes to spelling, grammar or formatting that do not change the meaning may be made without a note.
Requests to remove stories
We do not remove accurate reporting because it is inconvenient or old. We may update, anonymise or remove a story when the law requires it, when it is inaccurate and cannot be corrected, or when continued publication would cause serious harm that outweighs the public interest. The Editor-in-Chief takes these decisions. Formal complaints under the IT Rules, 2021 follow our Grievance Redressal process.
