The Pimpri-Chinchwad Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued a stern warning against individuals and businesses involved in the manufacturing and use of counterfeit High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP). According to Punekar News, unauthorized shops are producing number plates that resemble genuine HSRPs but allow vehicle owners to incorporate names, designations, and custom designs. This practice violates prescribed registration plate standards.
HSRP number plates are designed with specific security features to prevent tampering and improve vehicle identification. The unauthorized production of such plates is illegal. As per Central Government regulations, the requirement for HSRP was implemented for vehicles registered from April 1, 2019. Subsequently, the HSRP mandate was extended to older vehicles in Maharashtra.
Standardizing number plates and curbing the use of unauthorized and fancy designs are key reasons behind the implementation of HSRP. The RTO is determined to take strict action against those who violate these rules, Punekar News reported.
