A 34-year-old man died after his car rammed into a parked tanker from behind on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The accident took place at around 9.25 am on September 26 on the Pune-Mumbai lane, opposite the food mall in Maval taluka.
According to the police, the man was heading towards Mumbai from Pune in his car for work. At that time, a tanker was parked in a dangerous position on the expressway. The car crashed heavily into the tanker from behind, leaving the man severely injured, and he died during treatment. The car was also heavily damaged.
The complaint alleges that despite a ban on parking vehicles on the expressway, the driver had parked the tanker without turning on the parking lights or placing any hazard indicators. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased man's sister, a case has been registered against the tanker driver at Shirgaon police station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police Sub-Inspector Kendre is conducting further investigation.
