According to the police, the incident took place between 1 pm and 4:30 pm on September 21 at Karke Vasti in Kusgaon Budruk. A 40 to 45-year-old woman died in the attack, and the suspect husband subsequently fled the scene.
As soon as the information was received, Lonavala Rural Police rushed to the spot and formed 3 teams to search for the suspect. Through technical analysis and information received from informants, the police learned that he was preparing to leave for Karnataka by train.
Accordingly, a trap was laid in the Lonavala railway station area and he was detained. Police said he confessed to the crime during interrogation; however, he remains a suspect until the charges are proven in court.
This action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill and senior officials. Lonavala Rural Police Station in-charge Bhushan Mane is conducting further investigation.
