The Pimpri-Chinchwad India Alliance has organized a 'Lokshahi Sanrakshan Morcha' (Democracy Protection Rally) in Akurdi on October 8, as reported by News PCMC. The rally will begin at 11 AM from the Vitthal Mandir in Akurdi village and will conclude near the Tehsildar office in Nigdi.
The main objective of this rally is to draw attention to the lack of transparency in the electoral process, changes in voter lists, issues arising concerning eligible voters' names, and shortcomings in the Special Revision Campaign (SIR). Organizers stated that this rally is also being held for the protection of democracy and the constitution. Through this rally, a demand will also be made for an independent and impartial inquiry into the functioning of the Election Commission.
Organizers have urged office bearers and workers of constituent parties of the India Alliance, social activists, representatives of civil society, officials of progressive organizations, and democracy-loving citizens to participate in large numbers. Addressing the confusion and concerns among voters is also an important part of this rally.
