A sum of ₹50 lakh was stolen from a car parked on the cement service road near Sandy Hotel in Punawale between 10:50 PM on October 9, 2026, and 12:15 AM on October 10, 2026. Taking serious note of the incident, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police arrested two accused within just 8 hours and recovered the entire stolen amount of ₹50 lakh, News PCMC reported.

According to the police, the thieves used a duplicate key to open the car. An immediate investigation was launched after the incident. Upon reviewing CCTV footage from the area, a suspect was identified. Subsequently, teams from Crime Branch Unit-2, the Anti-Property Cell, and Ravet Police Station conducted a joint operation.

Two accused, Charudatt Shivaji Bendale (30) and Prasad Shivaji Bankar (29), have been arrested in connection with the case. The investigation revealed that Charudatt Shivaji Bendale had provided the duplicate key to Prasad Shivaji Bankar and also informed him about the ₹50 lakh in the car. Police apprehended Charudatt Shivaji Bendale from Nigoj and Prasad Shivaji Bankar from Chimbli.

The successful operation was carried out by a team comprising Assistant Commissioner Basavaraj Teli, Senior Police Inspectors Rohit Pawar, Pradeep Jadhav, Sudarshan Rathod, Sunil Kunhade, Sandeep Sawant, Sanjay Chavan, Hrishikesh Ghadge, Mayuresh Salunke, Rahul Khile, Vikram Kudal, Krishna Shitole, Govind Chavan, Ashish Botke, Ganesh Sawant, Vinod Veer, Shamsunder Gutte, and Ramesh Karke, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choube, Additional Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, and Deputy Commissioner Sarang Awahad.
