MLA Mahesh Landge has submitted a request to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner for the construction of a grand theatre and multi-purpose cultural centre named after veteran actor Nana Patekar in the Moshi-Charholi-Chikhli area of Pimpri-Chinchwad city. He has also requested the selection of a suitable site for this project and the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
MLA Landge stated that the proposed cultural centre would be named 'Nana Patekar Natyagruha and Cultural Centre'. The primary objective of this project is to strengthen Pimpri-Chinchwad's cultural identity. Additionally, it aims to honour Nana Patekar's contributions to Marathi and Hindi cinema, theatre, and his social work.
The theatre is envisioned to have a large seating capacity, similar to Pune's Ganesh Kala Krida Manch. It will include a spacious stage, excellent sound and lighting systems, separate rooms for artists, practice rooms, an auditorium for smaller events, easy access for persons with disabilities, and necessary security features. MLA Landge also requested that parking, public transport, and traffic management be considered during site selection.
Landge further suggested that the General Body should unanimously approve a resolution for this project. He requested a joint meeting of officials from relevant departments to finalise the site and commence work on the project report, along with a written progress report. BJP MLA Mahesh Landge stated that this centre would provide a well-equipped platform for various cultural events to residents, artists, theatre groups, schools, and colleges in the area.
