Thergaon's Vandev Anandvan Mitra Mandal celebrated this year's Ganeshotsav in a socially responsible and eco-friendly manner. Under the initiative of Standing Committee Chairman and the mandal's founder, Abhishek Barne, DJ and Dolby systems were completely avoided during the immersion procession. The entire procession was conducted in a disciplined manner to the beats of traditional instruments.
A live mythological tableau depicting the marriage ceremony of Mata Jogeshwari and Kalbhairavnath was the main attraction of the procession. Between 15,000 and 20,000 citizens from the area gathered to witness the tableau and bid farewell to Bappa. Actresses Urmila Kanetkar, Purnima Dey, Snehlata Maghade, and dancer Priyanka Jadhav also attended the festival.
To mark the golden jubilee of the Ganeshotsav, the mandal organised a health check-up initiative titled "Arogyacha Shree Ganesha". The camp included OPD consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, medical treatments, screening for non-communicable diseases, as well as guidance on ABHA and Ayushman cards. Hundreds of citizens benefited from the initiative. A children's fair was also organised for the kids.
In cooperation with the administration, parking arrangements were made to prevent traffic congestion, and the idols were immersed in special artificial ponds. "It is necessary for the youth and mandals to step out of the DJ culture and turn towards tradition and social welfare work," said Abhishek Barne.
