A young man has been arrested for creating terror by brandishing a machete near Joggers Park Garden, Sector 18, Spine Road, in Chinchwad. The arrested accused has been identified as Aniket Ganesh Deore (age 20, resident of Chinchwad). The incident occurred around 10:40 PM on October 10, 2026, as reported by News PCMC.
According to the police, the accused, Aniket Deore, threatened shops and people on the street while holding an iron machete. He shouted, 'We are the 'bhais' (gangsters) of this area, and we won't spare anyone who crosses our path,' instilling fear in the public. As a result, shopkeepers in the area closed their shops, and citizens fled in panic. The incident created a tense atmosphere in the locality.
Police Constable Arun Dnyaneshwar Sable has filed a complaint in this matter. Chinchwad Police have registered a case under the Indian Arms Act, Maharashtra Police Act, and Criminal Law Amendment Act. Police have also stated that a minor was involved in the incident.
Notably, a ban on carrying weapons and objects capable of causing injury has been imposed in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate area from September 30 to October 13, 2026. News PCMC noted that this incident occurred while the order was in effect.
