Chinchwad: As part of intensified inspections during the festive season, the Food and Drug Administration has reportedly taken action at Pradeep Sweets in Chinchwad, seizing a total of 134 kg of food products.
According to the available information, the seized stock included 18 kg of farsan and 116 kg of salted potato wafers.
FDA teams have been inspecting food establishments for compliance with hygiene requirements, food-safety standards, licences and registrations, storage conditions, packaging and labelling norms.
The inspection drive reportedly covers products such as khoya, paneer, ghee, cream, sohan papdi, shrikhand, lassi, farsan, potato wafers, modak and peda. At some establishments, concerns have reportedly been noticed regarding product quality, incorrect labelling or compliance with food-safety requirements.
Samples of the food products seized from Pradeep Sweets have been sent to a laboratory for examination. The laboratory report will determine whether the products complied with applicable standards and what further legal action, if any, should be taken.
With demand for sweets and snacks increasing during the festive season, FDA inspection activity across the region has intensified.
