The tenure of the sitting MLA for the Pune Division Graduates' constituency, Arun Lad, and the sitting MLA for the Teachers' constituency, Jayant Asgaonkar, is ending on December 6, 2026. Therefore, elections are being held for both these seats.
According to the election schedule, the notification will be published on September 29. Nomination forms can be filed until October 6, scrutiny will take place on October 7, and October 9 is the last date for the withdrawal of nominations. Voting will be held on October 23 from 8 am to 4 pm, and the counting of votes will take place on October 27. The entire process will be completed by October 31.
With the Model Code of Conduct coming into effect, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will have to adhere to election rules regarding political events, new announcements, and publicity. Restrictions are likely to be imposed on announcements of new development works, inaugurations, ground-breaking ceremonies, and promotional activities by public representatives.
However, regular, essential, and ongoing administrative work necessary for citizens will continue as per the rules. With the announcement of the elections, political parties will speed up the finalisation of candidates and preparations for campaigning.
