The License Department clarified that erecting advertising hoardings on private property without prior permission from the municipal corporation is a violation of rules. Permission for such hoardings is mandatory under Sections 244 and 245 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act and the Sky Sign and Advertisement Regulation Rules of 2022.
As unauthorized advertising hoardings are defacing the city, the municipal corporation has launched a campaign against them. As part of this drive, hoardings in Tathawade, Thermax Chowk, the Samarth Sahakari Bank building, and Chovisawadi areas have been removed previously.
The hoarding in Punawale was erected with an iron structure in the Vishnudev Nagar area. A team from the License Department completely dismantled it.
The municipal corporation has warned advertising agencies that any unauthorized hoardings erected in the future will be removed immediately.
