According to the complaint, the senior citizen came across a Facebook advertisement offering helicopter services for the Chardham Yatra. When he contacted the number provided in the ad, a person claiming to represent a tours company gave him details about the pilgrimage.
Following the caller's instructions, the complainant transferred the money online. Later, the fraudster demanded more money, claiming that a separate insurance policy had to be purchased for each passenger. Growing suspicious, the complainant tried to contact the person, but his calls went unanswered.
The complaint further states that the flight tickets were subsequently cancelled and the money was withdrawn. Ravet police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the online fraud.
