The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's Tax Collection and Assessment Department has launched a planned campaign to achieve its property tax collection target for the current financial year. Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor issued instructions in this regard during a review meeting held at the late Mayor Madhukarrao Pawale Auditorium in the main administrative building in Pimpri. Property tax revenue is a crucial part of the Municipal Corporation's budget, funding various development works and civic amenities.
During the meeting, a review was conducted on outstanding property tax, property confiscation actions, property transfer cases, pending complaints on the Sarathi portal, and actions taken on instructions from previous meetings. It was also made clear that action would be taken against officers and employees who delay tax collection. Each zonal officer was instructed to study the situation in their respective areas, implement effective measures, and submit written information regarding the same.
Comparing property tax collection data from the past five years, an increase in collection is expected this year. Defaulters will be repeatedly informed about their outstanding dues, and if taxes are not paid despite notices, confiscation action will be taken. Emphasis will be placed on updating information for residential, non-residential, mixed-use, industrial, and open plot properties, prioritizing those from the new property survey. Additionally, it is essential to resolve pending property tax-related complaints and complete property transfer cases in a timely manner. Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi is personally monitoring the entire tax collection process closely. The progress of tax collection work will be reviewed every fifteen days.
