The Oikyotan Bangiya Parishad (OBP) is organizing its 15th Durga Puja festival at Kapse Lawns in Pimple Saudagar. According to information provided by Punekar News on October 13, 2026, the festival will be celebrated over six days, from October 16 to 21. This year's Durga Puja theme is 'Rongomoch' (Stage), which will honor Bengal's theatrical tradition.
The festival will include traditional rituals, cultural programs, and Bengali cuisine. A major highlight of the celebration will be the attractive Chandannagar-style illumination. Ten dhakis (drummers) and artists specializing in traditional Dhamsa drums will be specially brought from Bengal for the festival. Daily, 3,000 to 3,500 devotees will be served an eight-dish vegetarian Bengali bhog. Over 15 chefs and traditional moiras (sweet makers) from Bengal will be present to prepare this bhog. The menu for each day will include two traditional Bengali sweets.
More than 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the festival daily. Young members of OBP will participate in bhog distribution. Cultural programs will feature performances by over 150 OBP members (children and adults), along with artists from Kolkata. Daytime activities include various events such as Antakshari, street plays, Dhunuchi dance, Shankhanad competitions, and dance sessions with the Pune Drum Circle. The festival will conclude with the traditional rituals of Sindoor Khela and Bisarjan.
