Vivek Tapkir, Vice President of the Pune District Chemist Association, has stated the need for a dedicated burn hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad to ensure immediate and proper treatment for patients injured in fires, gas cylinder explosions, and industrial accidents. He has submitted a memorandum to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner regarding this.
According to Tapkir's demand, the city requires a well-equipped burn hospital, a burn ICU, trained doctors, and essential medical facilities. Currently, such patients have to travel to other locations for treatment, leading to wasted time and potentially worsening the patients' conditions.
Tapkir has also demanded that until a dedicated burn hospital is established, special treatment facilities for burn patients should be made available in PCMC or government hospitals. He stated that these facilities should include special beds, medicines, and trained staff.
Tapkir has also requested that a time-bound action plan be prepared for the necessary funding, land, and manpower for this project. Furthermore, he has demanded a detailed written report on the implementation of this action plan. This demand was made on October 13, 2026, according to News PCMC.
