Beneficiaries of the Ramai Awas Yojana in Balajinagar, Bhosari, have filed a written complaint with the Mayor regarding a serious matter. According to News PCMC, beneficiaries of this scheme, intended for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and backward class poor families, were informed that the government scheme had been cancelled. Following this, their consent letters and thumb impressions were collected.
The beneficiaries allege that these consent letters and thumb impressions are now being used for a private builder's SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) project. Notably, the Ramai Awas Yojana has not been cancelled and provides a subsidy of 2.5 lakh rupees. Angered by this development, the beneficiaries have withdrawn their consent and expressed opposition to any private projects.
In their complaint, the beneficiaries have demanded that only the original eligible beneficiaries should receive the benefits of the scheme. They have also requested that these consent letters and proposals for private projects be put on hold until an inquiry is completed. The beneficiaries further demanded a joint hearing in this matter on October 7, 2026.
