Residents of Swadesha Housing Society staged a protest march to the developer’s office over the continuing water supply problem in the housing project.
The protest was held under the leadership of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Housing Society Federation and saw participation from society office-bearers, women residents and other members in large numbers.
Residents demanded that a separate water storage tank be provided for each phase of the project. They also demanded that the developer arrange sufficient alternative water supply until Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation begins regular water supply at full capacity.
Residents further demanded that the extra amount they have spent on tankers and other private water arrangements be reimbursed by the developer.
A meeting was held with the developer after the protest. According to the federation, municipal officials were also contacted over the phone to discuss the water supply issue.
The federation has also claimed that completion certificates should not be issued until the main water supply arrangement is fully ready. Independent official confirmation of this claim is still awaited.
The federation warned that the protest would be intensified if the water problem is not resolved soon.
An official response from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation regarding the issue is still awaited.
