A trip involving students from a private coaching academy in Alandi took a tragic turn after eight students were reportedly involved in a serious incident at Diveagar beach in Raigad district.

According to preliminary information, students from Winners Academy, which coaches Class 11 and 12 students, had travelled from Alandi to Diveagar for a trip. The group reportedly consisted of around 42 students and 6 teachers.

During the visit to the beach, eight students reportedly entered the sea. Preliminary reports suggest that they got into difficulty in the water after being unable to properly assess the depth and sea conditions.

After information about the incident was received, local authorities and emergency teams reached the location and further action was initiated.

The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Dighi Coastal Police. Police and the local administration are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As of now, the identities of the students and complete official details regarding the incident have not been fully confirmed. Therefore, residents are advised to rely on verified updates from the police and administration.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about safety during school and coaching-class trips to beaches. Organisers should ensure that students are properly briefed about tides, water depth, restricted zones and local safety instructions before entering the sea.

Further details are awaited from the authorities.
