A controversy has arisen regarding the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's (PCMC) tender (Tender No. GEM/2026/B/7797530) for the procurement of a 1000 MA Digital Radiography System. The estimated cost in this tender is ₹2.77 crore, which is alleged to be significantly higher than market rates and prices offered by other government institutions, according to Shabnam News.
Corporator Sandeep Waghere has demanded the cancellation of this tender and a thorough investigation into the matter. According to him, a medical college in Kota, Rajasthan, acquired a similar 1000 MA machine for ₹1.40 crore. Additionally, an 800 MA machine was sold for ₹1.10 crore this year. This indicates that the estimated cost of ₹2.77 crore set by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is unreasonable, Waghere stated.
The letter also notes that the technical specifications in the tender may favor specific companies or suppliers. It has also been reported that investigative agencies are currently scrutinizing the sales practices of manufacturers to government institutions. Allegations of a lack of transparency in the PCMC's procurement process are growing, with calls for an inquiry into the entire matter.
