The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has temporarily suspended its demolition drive against 20 unauthorized constructions located in the blue flood line of the Indrayani River in the Chinchwad-Moi Phata area. The Supreme Court has stayed this action until the next hearing scheduled for December 9, according to News PCMC.
These constructions are situated in Survey Numbers 7, 8, 9, and 10 at Moi Phata. A complaint was filed with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in 2023 regarding unauthorized plots and constructions in the river's flood zone. Following this complaint, the NGT had ordered the demolition process to be completed within three months.
The property owners appealed this order to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court accepted the appeal and granted a temporary stay on the demolition action. An Assistant Commissioner of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation stated on September 29, 2026, that no action would be taken until further orders are received from the Supreme Court.
