Dr. Vijaykumar Patil has claimed that for the past 2.5 years, these machines have been facing technical glitches, server issues, and data transfer hurdles. He stated that when the machines are non-functional, handwritten manual registers are once again being relied upon for attendance.
He stated that this could result in honest employees being penalised with late marks or marked absent, while also posing a risk of paper manipulation regarding the number of contract workers.
According to the contract, the maintenance of the machines lies with the contractor, and there is a provision to levy a penalty if a machine remains non-functional for more than 24 to 48 hours. However, it has been alleged that technicians do not arrive on time following a breakdown, and no penal action is taken.
Patil has demanded an independent audit of the project cost, tender process, machine quality, server system, and the contractor's performance, along with action against the guilty. The municipal corporation has not yet presented its stance on the matter.
