Corporator Aishwarya Taras has alleged in a statement that many garbage transport vehicles are operating on roads within the municipal limits without the necessary licenses.
Referring to a recent accident in the Nigdi area, she stated that ignoring such vehicles poses a threat to the lives of citizens.
She has demanded that vehicles with cancelled or invalid licenses be immediately confiscated and banned, and that penal action be taken against the concerned vehicle owners, contractors, and responsible officials.
Taras also suggested that a special drive be implemented to verify the licenses of all garbage transport vehicles in the city and that a list of illegal vehicles be made public. Attention is now on what action the municipal corporation takes regarding this demand.
