Speaking to reporters on the issue of unauthorized constructions, Revenue Minister Bawankule had stated that constructions fitting within the rules would be regularized, while action would be taken against illegal ones.
Dr Patil said a minister's verbal statement cannot substitute a Government Resolution or an official circular, and neither the municipal administration nor the courts are bound by such remarks. He also questioned the Revenue Minister's jurisdiction over the municipal corporation's administration.
Any decision regarding unauthorized constructions must be made solely through a written order from a competent authority. Patil stated that this issue, which has been pending for about 4 decades, will not be resolved merely through statements.
Meanwhile, Bawankule has said that directives have been issued to take action against builders responsible for unauthorized constructions, and efforts are being made to ensure that common citizens do not suffer losses.
