Despite an arms ban order being in effect within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, two youths were apprehended with iron machetes in the Wakad area, News PCMC reported. The action was taken on October 7. Police have registered cases and arrested the accused in both incidents.
According to information received, an order prohibiting the carrying of weapons such as machetes, knives, swords, and sticks is in force within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate from September 30 to October 13. Despite this, on October 7, two youths were found with machetes in two separate incidents in the Wakad area.
The first incident occurred at 4:30 PM near the Kaverinagar Vegetable Market, where Shivaji Ram Mardekar (19, resident of Chinchwadgaon) was taken into custody. Just 75 minutes after this incident, at 5:45 PM, the second incident took place at Tathawade, near the Aundh-Ravet BRT Road. In this incident, a youth named Samarth Tamma Bandapatte (18) was apprehended. Wakad Police have initiated legal action in both cases.
