MLA Shankar Jagtap has submitted an action plan to the administration with the aim of transforming the Chinchwad constituency into a 'Zero Garbage Zone'. During a meeting held at MLA Jagtap's office on October 8, 2026, he reviewed cleanliness, encroachments, hawker zones, and weekly market planning with officials from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). He urged for immediate solutions to citizens' problems, as reported by News PCMC.
Under this project, Jagtap instructed officials to identify 'chronic spots' in Chinchwad where garbage frequently accumulates and ensure their permanent clearance. He also ordered strict action against unauthorized stickers and hoardings. Emphasis was placed on freeing footpaths from encroachments. He guided that technical aspects, traffic management, and public safety should be considered when selecting hawker zones, and priority should be given to persons with disabilities, women, widows, and abandoned women.
Instructions were also given that weekly markets should not be held on footpaths or government land, and private organizers should ensure adequate parking arrangements. MLA Jagtap further stated that officials should plan in advance to prevent citizens from being inconvenienced by garbage, traffic, and unhygienic conditions, especially considering the increased crowds during festive seasons. Ashwini Gaikwad, Santosh Korad, Mukesh Kolap, and Gorakhnath Nimhan, along with other dignitaries, were present at the meeting.
