In a significant step towards making Pimpri-Chinchwad an education and research hub, COEP Technological University and JSW Projects have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an indigenous battery research and development center at Research Park in Chinchwad. The project proposes an investment of over ₹800 crore.
The primary objective of this center is to research, prototype, and certify battery cells based on lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and other advanced technologies. This project will boost research, skill development, and employment opportunities in the sector. The partnership is expected to create 1,000 job opportunities.
This center will provide students and young engineers with opportunities to work on advanced technologies. Mahesh Landge noted efforts to bring educational opportunities like Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Santpeeth, COEP, and IIM Nagpur to the city. The project is planned in two phases.
