A 32-year-old man from Pimpri has been sentenced to six months of simple imprisonment for dishonouring a cheque of ₹5.8 lakh. According to Punekar News, the cheque, issued by the man to repay money borrowed from a woman, was dishonoured by the bank.

The court has ordered the accused to pay the complainant woman ₹5.8 lakh as compensation. This amount will also accrue interest at an annual rate of 9%. The incident occurred on October 6, 2026.

The complainant is a 61-year-old woman and a resident of Kalewadi, Pimpri. The accused, Ajay Dnyaneshwar Sable, works as a pesticide spraying worker in the Pesticide Department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Magistrate K. K. Waghmare delivered the verdict, with D. S. Kucheria representing the complainant and S. S. Pardeshi representing the accused.
