Pimpri traffic police on Sunday took action against a Mercedes car belonging to another member of the 'Golden Guys', a group known for wearing massive amounts of gold jewellery and driving gold-coloured cars. A video of the car parked at Sai Chowk in Pimpri had gone viral on social media.
Taking cognizance of the video, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vikrant Deshmukh directed action. During inspection, the car was found to have tinted film on its windows, a fancy number plate, and its original colour changed. The vehicle was parked in a way that obstructed traffic, and insurance-related violations were also found, police said.
Police removed the tinted film and the fancy number plate on the spot. The owner was slapped with a total fine of Rs 6,500 for various violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Last week, the traffic police had taken similar action against a car belonging to another member of the same group. Police stated that cars belonging to this group have faced action in the past as well.
