Illegal parking of heavy vehicles on Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) plots in the Moshi area of Pimpri-Chinchwad city has significantly increased, causing numerous problems for local residents. Corporator Tushar Sahani has drawn attention to this serious issue and demanded immediate action.
According to Sahani, heavy vehicles, especially containers, are illegally parked on vacant PMRDA plots in Moshi's Sector 9, 11, and 13. This has led to a significant increase in traffic congestion, the risk of accidents, and dust pollution. Concerns have been raised about the safety of women, senior citizens, and local residents due to this unauthorized parking. Vehicles are haphazardly parked on both sides of Spine Road from Jai Ganesh Samrajya Chowk to Sant Nagar Chowk and from Spine Mall Chowk to Sector 13 Bridge, obstructing traffic. Traffic congestion worsens during peak hours in the morning and evening, creating a risk of accidents.
To resolve this issue, Corporator Tushar Sahani had submitted a representation to the Deputy Chief Minister's office. Taking note of this representation, the Deputy Chief Minister's office has directed PMRDA to take immediate action. Sahani had also submitted representations to Talawade Traffic Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikrant Deshmukh and Senior Police Inspector Ramchandra Ghadge. Following this, the police administration has issued directives for strict action against illegal parking on Spine Road and in the Moshi area. This includes installing 'No Parking' and 'Odd-Even Parking' signs, imposing fines, towing vehicles, and appointing wardens for traffic control.
Furthermore, Sahani has demanded that the premises of the Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre (PIECC) be opened daily from 6 AM to 10 AM for local citizens, especially women and senior citizens, for jogging and walking. The Deputy Chief Minister's office has also directed PMRDA to take appropriate action on this demand.
